2020: The year that slipped away!

Holy moly! How did a year with so much happening slip by so fast! There is too much to recap, but here’s a sample of some of the things that happened in the lab.

In anticipation of having no graduation ceremony, we had a small Lab Ceremony for our fabulous undergraduate seniors (2020) and hope to see them back fr the redux this summer (2021).

Lisa Hiura and Marissa Rice completed their PhDs and moved on to postdocs and new projects. We welcomed a new graduate student, Rikki Laser, who has brought her energy and ideas to tackling the question how does development of the Social Behavior Network impact social affiliation and social behavior? We also had Ehren Bentz join the lab to begin unraveling the secrets about the olfactory system that are held in the Pouchie Genome. Jesus became a  Cornell NextGen Future Professor Fellow; Lindsay was awarded a SfN 2020 Trainee Professional Development Award. We published a few papers and gave a few (virtual) talks at conferences, and a number of other notable things that I’m sure I’m forgetting.

How did it all go so fast? We have done our best to make progress in the face of a very long hard year. Now that 2021 is here, we look forward to finishing current projects, starting new projects, and having some fun along the way! Socially distant or zoom parties are fine an all, but here’s looking forward to doing these things IRL.
